  • Professor Jon Mathieu from the History Department at the Universiy of Lucerne, Switzerland and Professor Matt Vester from the History Department at West Virginia University will visit Helvetia on Thursday, March 25. Professor Mathiew is a specialist in comparative history of mountain regions and is exploring the similarities and differences between Alpine and Appalachian history.

Tuesday, April 13. Monthly meeting of the Helvetia Restoration and Development Organization. 6 p.m. at the Helvetia Public Library.

Tuesday, April 13.Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan Community Forum Meeting. The meeting will provide input to the planners on school needs and the input will be used to prioritize projects for recommended funding. The meeting is open to all members of the community, so please participate and encourage others as well. Tygarts Valley High School at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 17. Pickens Ramp Supper. 2:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. American Legion Hall. Ramps, ham, cornbread, beans, fried potatoes, applesauce, cole slaw, and dessert. Sponsored by Pickens Post 122 American Legion. $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12. 304-924-5813.

Monday, April 19. Helvetia Public Library Board of Trustees meeting. At the Library. 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 24. Helvetia Ramp Supper. 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or when all food is gone. Community Hall. Fried and fresh ramps, beans, ham, fried potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, cornbread, drink, and dessert. Volunteers will be preparing over 80 bushels of ramps, 300 pounds of ham, 60 pounds of beans, 480 pounds of potatoes, and 200 pounds of cabbage. $14 adults, $7 children. Dance with music by the Helvetia Star Band from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. $5. Sponsored by the Farm Women and the Community Hall Association.
