Governor Manchin Visits. On August 11, Governor and Mrs. Manchin traveled to Helvetia for dinner. During the visit, Governor Manchin committed $50,000 toward the construction of new restrooms for the Community Hall. Check out the photos.

Saturday, October 4. First Saturday Square Dance. Canceled due to construction at the Community Hall.

Monday, October 6. Farm Women's Club Meeting. 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, October 7. Monthly meeting of the Helvetia Restoration and Development Organization. 7 p.m. at the Helvetia Public Library.

Saturday, October 18. Helvetia Day. Celebrate the day the first settlers arrived in Helvetia.

  • 4 p.m. Historic Walk along the path the first settlers used. Starts at the Star Band (Red) Hall.
  • 5 p.m. Swiss Folk Dance workshop. Star Band Hall.
  • 8 p.m. Dance and Cake Walk. Music by the Helvetia Star Band. Star Band Hall. Adults $5.00. Children $2.00.

Saturday, October 25. The Helvetia Archives Project will be at Fairmont State University's eighth annual Fund Raiser and Awards Gala at the West Virginia Folklife Center at Colebank Hall.  We have been invited to set up a display, both in support of our operation and in the joint effort of public encouragement to be more involved in historical museum activities.  We are honored.
