Saturday, October 2. First Saturday Square Dance and Cakewalk. Adults $5. Age 12 and under, $2. 8:00 p.m. Community Hall.

Monday, October 4. Farm Women's Club Meeting. 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, October 12. Monthly meeting of the Helvetia Restoration and Development Organization. 6 p.m. at the Helvetia Public Library.

Saturday, October 16. Work Day at the Community Hall. We will be constructing an outbuilding for storage of lawn equipment. We need: carpenters and associated tools, general labor, and a cook to fix lunch for the crew. 8:00 a.m.

Sunday, October 17. We will be spending time with Judith Gray during a prayer service of healing and thanks followed by a covered dish dinner. Drinks, meat, and bread will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share. 4:00 p.m.

Monday, October 18. Helvetia Public Library Board of Trustees meeting. At the Library. 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 20. School Levy Presentation. Dan Lehmann will present information on the Randolph County school levy. Pickens School. 6:30.

Saturday, October 23. Helvetia Day. Celebrate the day the first settlers arrived in Helvetia. All events are at the Star Band (Red) Hall.

  • 4:00 p.m. Historical Walk. Travel the trail that the first settlers used.
  • 5:00 p.m. Presentation on Helvetia History.
  • 7:00 p.m. Folk songs and dances.
  • 8:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. Square Dance and Cakewalk.

Saturday, October 30. Halloween Party at the Hutte. Buffet with ham, beans, corn bread, parslied potatoes, salad, and more from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. followed by karaoke and a costume contest. Belly dancers will perform sets between 5:30 and 10. $15 per person. Reservations appreciated.
