Alert! Allegheny Power and American Electric Power have proposed building the largest power transmission line east of the Mississippi with one of the proposed routes going through Helvetia. It appears the power line would cross the valley between town and the cemetery. The Charleston Gazette has a story on the project with links to maps at http://www.wvgazette.com/News/200807240460. Other information including maps can be found at http://www.pathtransmission.com/. You can contact the companies at http://www.pathtransmission.com/contact/default.asp if you want to comment on the route. We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
